WHAT IS RSA?
NCBCE's Ready, Set, App! competition is an Android mobile application development challenge for North Carolina high school students. Student teams are tasked with developing a functional and original mobile app that solves a problem in their school or community using a mobile app development platform (e.g., MIT App Inventor).

WHY WE CHOSE TO COMPETE
A subgroup of the WSTEM club participated in the 2021 Ready, Set, App! competition virtually. We chose to compete because we wanted to give members an opportunity to learn more about computer science through a fun, hands-on project.
Our App: ConnecTeen
Online schooling has caused students to feel a lack of motivation, a disconnect from their friends, classmates and academic material, as well as mental health problems and a lack of school spirit. Without a structured school day and more independence, some students have struggled to stay organized.

ConnecTeen is specifically designed for students at East Chapel Hill High School. It is intended to help them stay organized and on top of their school work, to connect them with clubs and social events, and it even has features to help make the return to in-person instruction easier. Throughout our design process, we have considered many features we would like such an app to have, however, we have settled on 4 main features that would be most useful to our classmates as well as being feasible to implement: The School Navigator, Clubs and Events Calendar, Assignment list and Coursebook Planner.
